Currency
Decides how amounts are rounded: 2 digits for most currencies, 3 for KWD, BHD and OMR, 0 for JPY.
Material
Filament for one piece, including supports and purge waste. Use your slicer’s estimate or the total amount you measured.
Divide the spool’s purchase price by the filament weight in kilograms, or use the shop’s price per kg.
Printer and electricity
For one piece. 1.5 means one and a half hours.
The printer’s purchase price spread over its working hours, plus maintenance costs. Electricity goes in the fields below.
Average power while printing. Use a measured average or the manufacturer’s average figure.
From your electricity bill.
Hands-on work
Hands-on time for each piece: removing supports and checking the print.
Sanding, painting, assembly, packing one piece.
The cost of an hour of hands-on work, including your own time.
The whole order
A one-off cost for the whole order: preparing files, test prints or a jig.
An extra percentage of production cost to allow for failed prints. Enter the allowance you want to include.
How many pieces in this order.
Price
Added to production cost to set the selling price. A 100% markup sets the price at twice the cost.
A selling or payment-processing fee, calculated here on the price before tax. Enter 0 if no percentage fee applies.
A fixed fee per order, if your marketplace or payment provider charges one.
Added on top of the selling price, if you charge it.

Your figures

How the figures are worked out

Production cost adds filament, printer time, electricity and hands-on work for every piece. Setup is added once per order, then the failure allowance is added to the whole amount.

Selling price is production cost plus your markup. Markup is a percentage of cost; margin is a percentage of selling price. Before selling fees, a 100% markup gives a 50% margin.

Revenue after fees is the selling price before tax minus selling fees. Margin after fees is the percentage of that selling price left after fees and production cost.

Amounts are shown with the decimal places used by your currency. Use your calculation to plan an order in FilaFlow ERP.

This calculation uses the figures you enter. FilaFlow ERP connects print costs to the spools and prints you record.

Use this calculation in FilaFlow ERP

  1. Enter the quantity, selling price per piece and tax rate when you create the order in FilaFlow ERP.

  2. When the print comes off the printer, it is recorded with the spool it used and the grams; the cost of the piece comes from that spool's real price, the printer hours, the electricity and the minutes you worked.

  3. Invoice the order and record the payment. Finances shows sales, costs and profit for your selected period; open sales or profit to see the records behind the total.
